HOW WE STARTED....

My name is Jo White and I first opened Candy Kanes Sweet Shop on 21st April 2012 in Oakham, Rutland.   After working in Waste Management for 18 years I wanted to do something a bit different and having a very "sweet" sweet tooth and with lots of encouragement from my daughter, Shanay, I decided to venture into the Sweetie business!

Candy Kanes is named after my Son, Kane and I get lots of help in the shop from both of my 2 children. 

​

Within only 6 months of trading it soon became apparent that I needed a bigger shop to display some of the lovely gifts that were proving to be very popular and I also  needed further storage space to cope with the extra demand!

​

.......So in March 2013, Candy Kanes moved to larger premises to Unit 9, Town Square, Syston, Leicester LE7 1GZ.

​

When I first started thinking about opening Candy Kanes, I wanted to have a traditional feel, but with a very modern twist.  I have all the old favourites in the old fashioned sweet jars from Sherbet Lemons and Olde English Humbugs to some of the newer ones which have proven to be very popular with our younger customers from Millions  and Fizzy Bubblegum Bottles to Strawberry Pencils and Haribo's Rhubarb & Custards!

If you do get the chance to come into our shop in Syston, you will also have a choice of over 20 different sweets from our Pick 'n' Mix section and we have a delicious choice of Homemade Fudge & Scottish Tablet to Belgian Chocolate and Homemade Turkish Delight from our Cut 'n' Serve.

 

​We also serve Italian Scooped Icecream in an array of different flavours like Rum & Raisin, Mint Choc Chip, Banofee Fudge and many more!!

 

For the younger ones, we have a Slushie Machine serving a variety of flavours from Blue Raspberry, Pink Bubblegum to Strawberry and Apple Cider flavours and for our older customers the ever popular 'Retro Sweets' are a classic!

We also supply Ration Cards where Parents can put money onto their Son/Daughter's 'account' for their child to spend at their leisure in our shop and we sell Gift Voucher starting from only £1.00,

We also make up fabulous Sweetie Gifts from the very popular Candy Trees and Candy Bouquets to Sweetie Gift Hampers and various jars & gift boxes filled with a variety of sweets.
